Hello all.
I'm pleased to report that since leaving Paris we haven't paid for a single nights camping - choosing to spend our hard earned instead on wine, cheese and frites.
We spent a few days around Gien, not sure where that is, but we found a fab outdoor pool with sun loungers and got properly clean and even did a bit of exercise - the usual of course being walking for miles around towns.
Then we drove a bit more southwest with no clear plan we ended up in the lakes of Charente and realised we're gettinginto teh area of Brits abroad withlots of yellow reges everywhere.
Headed to Cognac on the advice of my wise elder brother and we've been here for three days or so - free camp next to teh river, just over from the Hennesey factory - which sounds pretty grim but believe me it isn't. There's been a festie on and we've made friends with lots of camping-caristes.
But I had a bit of a blow when one of teh french camping caristes called Pam a 'camion' - we'd been thinking we had joined the fraternity but not yet. Actually I had quite bad camping car envy after being invited into a few and have now decided to turn down any offers to step inside the 50 grand or so machines.
heading to the Dordogne to see more English people and hope to get in a river while its still hot.
Anyone planning a holiday to France must come to Cognac - that's advice from Dave.
